kentmccoy
how does one change a .jpg or .png file format to .skp in order to get it to show up in the relevant su component library? apparently only .skp extensions show up when pasted into the su 6 componet file
P.R.S. Sivakumar .
I do not know what you are asking exactly. I think you have confused texture and components. A .jpg/.png can be brought into SU through the materials editor. You have to first put some texture on an object or even a colour, then go to edit, and in that you will find a check box "use texture image", check that and browse to your .jpg image and bring that into this. Now you can save this texture as a new material. This does not make a component, it makes a texture material from your .jpg. Hope this helps With best regards PRSS
bytor
Kent, Materials are not components in sketchup - hence they won't show up in the component library. They will show up in the material library, and you can easily create and save you own. An easy way to add them 1 at a time to your scene is to select them in a widndows explorer window and drag them into your scene - select anywhere to place them. Now select the material/image and right click - > select the option to "Use as Material", and it will now show up in the material browser under the "in model" library. There is also a ruby plugin out there that will import multiple files at one time - great for adding an entire folder. From here - you can save them as individual materials or grouped libraries - see the sketchup help files for more detailed info on this! stevel
You can import jpegs and make them components, if you'd like. File>Import>browse to jpeg. Click on "Use As Image", then size, explode it, double-click and make it a component. You can change the size again, if you'd like, by selecting it and using the measuring tool
