MesaPrs
Hi everybody, I've seen plenty of posts about issues exporting a sketchup scene to 3dsMax, and there have been some great solutions, but I've run into another problem. When I export a model in 3ds format, "by material" and "single object", reorganize the grouping and weld everything back together, I always have a problem chamfering edges (as I don't think a plugin exists that will chamfer multiple edges together in SU...). Some edges will chamfer fine but there's always some that distort badly as if there's an extra edge in there oriented in the wrong direction. Welding with a tighter threshold and exporting from SU with the vertexes intact don't seem to work. Has anyone run into this or know how to get around it? Dave Buchhofer
i have run into it, and unfortunately dont have a good solution.. if you're using Vray, take a look at using the VrayEdgesTex in the bump map.. to do chamfering at rendertime, i know theres a similar thing in metnal ray, but dont recall what it is. MesaPrs
Nice! I'll just use VrayEdgesTex - that sounds a whole lot less time consuming than chamfering edges in the model. Thanks, that solves my problem!
