What's wrong with the laptop? Need help!

Recommended Posts

Dear Hi,

My gf has bought a new laptop which is ASUS F8SP Series

CPU: Duo T9300

320GB HDD

Memory 4GB

Graphic Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 ; VRAM: 1GB

Using Window vista 32 bit. Understand that vista 32bit can only read 3GB so i currently upgrading to Vista SP1 which able to read up to 4GB

The problem she face is that i believe with this laptop setting it's should be move than enough power to run a vray setting [low setting preset] at smaller picture size at a good speed.

Light Cache Subdiv: 500

Irradiance map: low setting

320 x 240 picture size

But what i occurred is whenever when we render it, it's almost take ages to finish it! [2-3 hours]

Is there any things i need to lookout for? appreciate someone can help me out on this. thanks

Doesn't make much sense. The CPU is 2.5GHz, which is certainly fast. Does the video card have "HyperMemory"? Is it possible to turn that off? That can suck your RAM.

Monitor RAM and CPU usage and availability during the render as it gets slow.

Of course, it's possible to make a Vray scene where you've done something wrong in a sampler or material setting that actually does take that long to render. Do you have another computer you can run the render on to test?

yup, i did try using other com but it's much faster and better so i can't really compare it. [com using Q6600 with 4Gb running vista64, graphic card is HD4800.

As for the HyperMemory that you mention, i didn't really know abt it as the laptop is with my gf currently..so once i off the hypermemory it should be faster am i correct to say that? And how do i off it? Is there any setting that i able to uncheck the hypermemory.

I did look at the CPU and memory and notice that the physical memory is only use up to 65-75% so i believe it's move that enough power to run the render quite fast. [i even increase the dynamic memory to 1200 MB [normal is 400mb] but it's take ages to render it.

What's the problem i am not sure..kind of regret that i nv told my gf to use 64bit instead of 32bit. but sttrange is my gf told me that her office cpu is lousier that her. [2GB ram and the the graphic card is not better than her as well.] strange...:(
