Peter M. Gruhn
I watched the little movie. I played with the demo. Is it just me or is "the new Reveal™ rendering technology" really just "we duplicated some buttons on the render display"? Why yes, Gruhn, it is more than that. For instance the quality control sliders often affect MORE than one pre-existing parameter. Gosh, Dave, you're right. Now why didn't I think of that. Praise this might technology. Now don't get me wrong, they did a nice job clustering these things and I was using it right away and happy as a clam (how happy can a clam really be?)(hey, if you were all big fat stomach and lived in the dark under... wait, I am and do. Anyway...). Software in general and programming in particular is highly susceptible to crazy hype. We see two and three page articles extolling the virtues of instant user notification techonology carefully detailing how to go about things and in the end its "call messageBox()". Or the 3000 Amazing Photoshop Tips in Five Seconds video. One tip? "press 'b' to get the brush tool." So, anyway, I'm thinking that Reveal Rendering Technology is nothing to get excited about/to brag about. Something they let an intern gin up and then realized they had no other new features (yeah, I'll get beat up for that last bit). Or am I missing something? Edited August 10, 2008 by Peter M.
