sg3d
Hey All, Need advice on best way to model the big top tent below. What way would you go about modeling this. Was thinking about using cloth modifer. Any suggestion? :confused:Thanks sg3d:confused:
Claudio Branch
I would use the Surface Toolset modifiers (Edit Spline, CrossSection, Surface) to model this. Here is a thread that might give you some ideas: http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/29200-help-im-stuck-2.html
Scott Schroeder
If you are familiar with cloth, that could be one way of doing it. You can also just use a nicely detailed mesh and soft select the verts where the posts are. The soft select the edges down to meet the tent walls. A third way would be to get a start from the cloth sim, then refine the shape and details in edit poly or mesh mode.
nelpiper
I personally wouldn't use cloth as it's slow for this kind of model there'd be quite setup to do. I'd try having a nice and poly plan and work with soft selection. Hope it helps. Good luck.
Matt McDonald
I wish I had a project that required me to model a circus tent!
