need help modelling big top tent

If you are familiar with cloth, that could be one way of doing it. You can also just use a nicely detailed mesh and soft select the verts where the posts are. The soft select the edges down to meet the tent walls. A third way would be to get a start from the cloth sim, then refine the shape and details in edit poly or mesh mode.
