Neil Woodhouse
Greetings, I'm currently working on an interior which when rendered out to quote the Yorkshire phrase is " getting up my nose " I have attached an image to see the problem. It is quite simply very, very blotchy. In fact someone in the office commented that it looked as though there was a mirror ball in the scene. Here are my Vray settings: IMAGE SAMPLER. Adaptive Sub. Filter is Area. Sub Image Sampler -1 / 2. INDIRECT ILLUMINATION: Irradiance Map/QMC Primary Bounce 2 Secondary Bounce 1 IRRADIANCE MAP: Low 30/20 VRAY QMC 8/3 RQMC Adap = 0.9 Noise = 0.005 Min =8 Colour Map = Exponential all set to 1.0 The ceiling lights are FreePoint with VRay shadow, Isotropic, D65 white, 1500CD V-Ray shadows set to transparent, spherical U,V,W all at 10mm The simple question is......What's going on and how do i get a clean image? There a 6 Cam views to complete this project. Best Neil
nelpiper
I'd try this. Use for 2nd bounce lightcache and not qmc (or dmc). Use a value of 1000 for prod rendering and divide that by 10 for test rendering. Also, when I get splotches on my renders, I use more samples for the irradiance map (usually 30). Hope it helps. Good luck.
Neil Woodhouse
Thanks Nelson, I'll give that a whirl, and post the result. Cheers Neil
Dave Buchhofer
impressive blotches, havent' seen any quite so pronounced in a while .. if i had to guess i'd say you're using either a very high light multiplier somewhere, or maybe a light material, or self illuminated material, so that there is a very small area that is rediculously brighter than the rest of the scene.. which requires the renderer to work much harder to smooth things out i'd suggest away from exponential personally while trying to get started, also i'd say to try the vrayIES lights instead of the freepoint lights, if you insist on setting values in candles
Neil Woodhouse
Well, I've got rid of the blotches, but i'm now left with those irritating white speckles which seems to be the bane of a lot of people. Sooooo how do we get rid of the speckles. What's really annoying is that i've done hundreds of interiors and never had these problems until this project. Very frustrating, another morning down the dunny.
