landrvr1
Hey gang, got a long standing problem that I've finally decided to try and solve. Whenever I do animations, there's times when I get very slight camera jitter/stutters in some of my scenes. These can occur in any kind of camera motion, but tend to be more prevalent when the camera is doing a long side-to-side lateral pan. Seems to happen whether it's a WMV, FLV, or DVD! These are very tiny little jumps - nothing earth shattering - but annoying nonetheless. I'm on Max with VRay 1.5 final. All my stuff is 30fps. Any thoughts on a possible reason, or a cure? Anyone else have this issue?
Nic H
are your cameras contrained to splines by any chance?
landrvr1
are your cameras contrained to splines by any chance? Ahh, good question but no. It's a target camera without constraints, lol. ...
Macer
I did have very minor stuttering in my animations (@25 fps) seemingly at each frame. It was like I didn't have enough fps - smooth motion but a constant minor jitter. In the end (after loads of experimenting) I found that it was my filtering. I had it set quite sharp (as I was used to producing sharp stills), but I found that with a softer filter (resulting in an only slightly blurier image) I had super smooth animations every time! I use MR though so I don't know if this is relevant to your set-up? Having just re-read your post this probably doesn't help, but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway... Take a look at where your scene is placed in space. due to the nature of floating point numbers, there is less accuracy of positions and rotations the further you get from the world origin. this type of thing can happen pretty easily if you're starting from some cad that is placed out in the middle of nowhere. also along the same lines, if theres a dummy, or vertex, or spline thats miles away from the rest of the scene, it can throw the overall 'scale' of the numbers grid off and cause the same issue. at least, thats one common cause of both the jittery camera/perspective movement, and artifacts in the viewport.
