display driver in Max 6

I got max 6 in the mail a couple of days ago and I am now setting it up with all my plugins and the like. There is one thing that has me worried a little though, you see, a few weeks ago while I was still working in Max 5 I got a new computer here at work and with it got a quadro FX 1000 video card. I installed the latest drivers together with the Maxtreme drivers for use in Max and the performance was better than I could have imagined. I was orbiting, panning, and zooming in scenes that were around a million polys with absolutely no slow down.

So now that I have Max 6 here I would like to be able to do the same thing only problem is when I install the Maxtreme drivers/plugins for Max 6 I get errors and the display baisically doesn't work at all. So I try switching to directX 9 and that doesn't work either (Yes, I have installed the latest versions of directX). That leaves me with open GL or software mode and the performance is considerably worse that what I was experiencing in Max 5 with the maxtreme display. Nvidia won't answer questions regarding drivers so they are no help. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I can't get DX9 to work for me on max6 at all. However I did have it working on max5 (although the maxtreme driver was much better). I wonder if I need to revert to an older or newer version of the nvidia driver. Right now I'm using 43.03. That's what the nvidia website says is certified for use with max/viz. However I wonder if that is still refering to max 5 and max 6 would need a different driver to work with direct x. That sounds unlikely but it's all I can think of right now.

Alexander, could you tell me what version of the nvidia driver you have installed?

That did it! I uninstalled the 44.03 and installed the 44.65 driver then set max to use directX 9.0 and it finally worked. I guess nvidia needs to update what they recommend for use with max on their web site. Thanks for the help!

P.S. Also, it's nowhere near the performance I was getting with maxtreme so I'll be on the lookout for maxtreme for max6.
