Tropical jetty

Here's something I did for a bit of practice. Its not very architectural, it was more to work on the water materials, but I might tack it onto the back of a suitable house one day. Please ignore the composition, it feels a bit cut-off, but I wasn't really trying to focus on anything.

It was completely modelled in max (except for the palms) which is new for me as I normally import from revit/acad/sketchup etc, not that there was much to model! Rendered with MR, no post.

I'm still working on the water material, and I'm not happy with the edge of the water either, so any suggestions or coments would be very welcome.

Cheers

A valiant attempt I think. The timber jetty is great, maybe the planking texture resolution is a little low? Love the older wood underneath and the concrete wall to the rear. I like the light on the water but I think the foam and wave are a real problem. I won't even pretend to know how to achieve this realistically but a bit more research around the forums might come up with something. I also think that the mesh of the sand could do with flattening out and some more work to the texture. I can see the ripples effect that you'd like with the sand but it maybe would'nt be this extreme?

Thanks for your feedback.

I had a few minutes last night so I altered a few textures (haven't found a larger one for the jetty yet though!) and this is what I got.

I've still got to level the sand a bit and no real idea of how to go about improving the water effect? Suggestions from everyone welcome.

I'd better get on with the real work in the mean time!

Cheers

Err yeah, I just used a scatter for the stones, but due to the roughness of the mesh they didn't all sit on the surface! I thought I'd corrected it but obviously not - I'll have a look at it next time I make any changes. Well spotted! Thanks
