marksee
Has anyone ran into a problem w/ Vray/backburner where after calculating irradience and light cache maps the rendering times jump 10 fold? I am working on a scene that takes less than 8 minutes to calculate both maps and render, but when I choose from file and point to the two maps the render time jumps to over an hour and 40 minutes -- same settings, same computers. To check if it was a connection issue I loaded the maps on the local computer as opposed to accessing them via the network and no change. I am in viz 08 and vray 1.5 - using backburner. After looking into things further I am convinced that the problem is in the irradience map. I got an error during calculation that said -after calculating- error saving irr. map and it would re-render that scene and be fine. I set both primary and secondary to light cache and the frames are rendering in a little over 2 minutes. Any suggestions? Scott Schroeder
I've never ran into this problem, but I do remember there being another post on here about it. You might want to search for it, I don't know if they came up with a solution though. Your best bet for stuff like this is the chaos forum. There is way better technical support and a much deep knowledge base on that forum than this one. Not that this forum is bad or anything, but the chaos forum is just bigger and has more activity. LukeC
Possibly a network or permissions issue? Have run into problems because of them before that sound similar.
Dave Buchhofer
animated objects somewhere? apparently when theres parts of the render that need to be 're-calculated' or that dont have information on them in the irradiance map, then they can get to be quick slow.
