Ernest Burden III
Last night I bought one of the car collections from lowpolygon3D.com. They are delivered in .3ds and .max format. I do not use MAX, but I have several apps that read .3ds and UV textures, so it sould be fine. But the models open with the geometry somewhat scattered about--car body not on base, tires rotated about. The UVs are correct. Is this common for MAX-created files? Would the files open properly in MAX so they could be re-saved in 3ds with perhaps better settings? I could get a friend to use his MAX to convert them, I just want to know if it should work. Otherwise I have to get back to the website and ask them to do something about this problem. Thanks
id_ivan
From my experience it's because they use "grouping" before exported it to 3ds, and max seem doesn't detect and collapse it well. all the pivot point back to the origin and scaled object was converted into original size. Use some other apps, like Autocad or such to reconvert it to 3ds then export it back to max. hope it helps. regards
