copain
Hey guys hoping to get some help with this: Here is an image of scene I am rendering, as you can see it has a shadow of a tree( which is animated). Now my question is, what is the best way to render this? As there is no camera move it is just the shadow changing, is there a way of just rendering that region? thanks steve
SandmanNinja
With Max 2009 Design, you have Render Regions. Do 1 full render Switch to Render Region Marquee the area to render Press the Go Button

copain
hey stephen how does that work?
STRAT
you put a plain or face directly in front of the camera, and assign a pure black, non shadow/gi emitting, seen only by camera material to it. Then, punch out a hole where the action takes place. then hit render.

SandmanNinja
Hey Steve, Which trees are you using to get the 'leaves moving in the wind'? I want to do an animation like that as well. I think it's a cool effect. Also, are the trees moving with Reactor, or are you keyframing the animation or how? Thanks!
copain
hey Joel I used onyxtree, There is a setting to create a wind effect. In my case, because you do not even see the tree, I just have a plane with an image sequence on it.
