Stan Zaslavsky
hi, i've got a slightly falling slope on the site and have the elevation showing the curve. is there a quick and easy way to align the flat plane to a curve? see image enclosed as i wrote the message - i realised i can use loft to get the original curve shape to become a plane is there any easier way though than this way with an existing flat plane? dean@pikcells
turn the plane to an edit poly and move the verticies to the points of your curve?
charter
Another way would be to use the sweep modifier, then covert it over to an editable poly if you need to adjust it......... sweeps are fantastic and well worth exploring if you dont already use them i use them for loads of different things facades, windowframes, door surrounds drainpipes etc the list goes on! BrianKitts
if you've got the spline following the wall, why not just apply an extrude modifier to the spline.... you'll end up with a the same thing as conforming a plane to the spline.
A.Mitov
Splines! Just place the spline vertices over the profile and extrude it.
SandmanNinja
I concur. Edited August 19, 2008 by SandmanNinja Hey!! This was my 1000th post! W00t!
Stan Zaslavsky
sounds great - this is what i ended up doing - splines then lofted to a path. then there was lots of extruding and removing it from the main terrain - see image enclosed. unfortunately the view we picked for the final render showed virtually none of the terrain outside the main development so there's a lesson not to do terrain if its not going to be in the final shot all the best and thanks for all your input
Stan Zaslavsky
Dean - is the moving of vertices you mention manual - or is there a command that aligns the vertices automatically?
