AFK_Matrix
Hi, Ok after going to Brian Smiths training in London I am not trying to produce some Vray images for my portfolio. The first image I am doing is taking an old images I did for a housing company and now using vray on it. The original was rendered using Lighttracer, a dome sky light and a direct target light. Here is the original: Now I added the sky and tress in post with Photoshop so all I have at the moment for my Vray images is the house and surrounding grass/pavements etc. One issue I am having though is getting some nice reflections in the glass. Here is the Vray image: And I used these settings to create the glass: http://www.cg-files.com/vrayglassmaterialtutorial.html Would adding in a HDRI help with reflections? Oh and I used a normal camera and a Vray sun for the image.
jameson101
Hey there, Well i see a bit of improvement with the Vray image but a lot more can be done. A HDRI will help with reflections but the HDRI will help more with the lighting, whatever HDRI you use it will set the mood for the scene. As for reflections you can always do it in photoshop but if you want to do everthing in 3D then show your material and lets see how to get a better reflection. Also with your grass you can you a vray displacement, you can find a good Grass Vray displacement Tut at Evermotion.com.

You really need to take advantage of proxies...don't be afraid of geometry.
AFK_Matrix
Just thought I would say that all I was doing in that image was trying to get the Vray lighting and materials sorted, I am going to add vegetation but wanted to get all my Vray materials and lighting sorted. I am working on the vegetation now and will post a pic soon, still not happy with my glass
