coco
First I'm new to Fry, it seems like an amazing engine but I need some basic questions answering, thanks. What is the most efficient way of building and placing materials on objects? At the moment I am downloading from the fry materials depository, rebuilding/scaling in the host app (Lightwave) using the maps, then re creating the fry material and tweaking to match the original Fry material. If I go straight from a Fry material, the material is scaled badly, or sometimes not placed at all...Quite frustrating, I presume the Fry materials from the depository are 1 to 1 scale? The UVW modifiers in the material editor are a little unintuative. Also where should the maps be saved? I am saving in sub folders ie Feversoft/Materials/ceramic/maps/... or Feversoft/materials/Metals/Maps/....etc Thanks:)
RayOfLight
I don't know much about Lightwave, but I do know that fryrender works best if you do the UVW-mapping in the hostapplication. Inside the material editor you can use tiling. About the folders for the materials, you can change those, and make new ones the way you want them. You can place those anywhere you want, just make sure you set the material editor to the same location (top left corner) have fun frying!
coco
Thanks RayOfLight for your help:) Slowly getting to grips with this amazing engine! Taking some time to learn materials system coming from a biased engine background, but its worth it. Cheers
