Anthony Buntine
We are using MAX 5, radiosity to produce an interior architectural visualisation. The problem we are having is with including photographic texture maps of people into the scene. We use People in Motion from www.marlinstudios.com. Traditionally we exlude the texture maps from lights in the scene and set the texture map to 100% self illumination. The end result is that the rendered image shows the map with out any change to it's brightness or contrast. The problem we are experiencing with MAX 5 Advanced lighting is that we cannot exlude material from the radiosity light sources (This is mentioned in the README for MAX 5.1). We have tested this extensively and it it true (it doesn't work). Thus the maps undergo significant brightness and contrast changes. So far we have set the self illumination down to about 5% and tweaked the RGB output levels to try and balance the texture map. However, it is far from perfect. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and/or does anyone have a solution. Thanks Anthony Buntine
nuno
The problem we are experiencing with MAX 5 Advanced lighting is that we cannot exlude material from the radiosity light sources you can exlude OBJECTS from radiosity, then you add some omni lights just to light these same objects excluded from the radiosity..... i dont know if it works but seems logic to me.... best to you nuno
@lkion O
Anthony i've heared the same problem considering viz 4.I suppose it is realy stupid cause you ve paid so much money for the people and now you cant make it work. If you dont find a sollution i think it be better to contact malrin studios and say to them that the product is not working with radiosity. I will agree with nuno. If the exlude option works plz let me know!
abicalho
Even if you exclude it from Radiosity, you have to adjust the Physical Scale in the Exposure Control to match the brightest light in the scene. Alexander
