ABK
Hi, Does anyone know of a resource listing the graphics cards that are compatible with 3DS max? I'm about to purchase an nVidia Quadro FX 5600 and just wanted to check first. Cheers Antony

AJLynn
Too expensive, unless you need a really, really high end display. (Remember that the video card does not affect the rendered output.) A Geforce 8800GT works almost as well.
Hazdaz
I think a better list would be videocards that AREN'T compatible with MAX. I have never had issues with a videocard not being compatible with any of the apps that I run - and I run quite a few... from 3D CAD to 3D DCC to video editing. I almost always stick with Nvidia simply because historically their drivers have been better for 3D apps, even if their hardware is slightly slower. I personally would never waste my money on a "pro" videocard when a high-end consumer card will probably be just as fast for lots less money. Ky Lane
I have a 8800GTX, and Im yet to see anything quicker? Seen Quadro's etc, but they got nothing on this overclocked beauty! Its essentially the same GPU as a quadro, but they feel the need to limit the cards; unsure why.
Billabong
I'm running an 8800GTX as well and this thing is a monster. Although it does take some maneuvering to fit it in your comp
nelpiper
I have also a 8800gtx and works pretty well not just for MAX for for MAYA, AUTOCAD, etc. One thing that bugs me though is that a 8800gtx has a power consumption of up to 315W while a quadro fx 1700 (for example) only 42W. It´s something to keep in mind. Good luck
FlyinHawaiian
I'm actually pricing a new workstation and was looking for feedback on graphics cards. I've posted a poll over at "The Area" measuring satisfaction levels of people running gaming or workstation cards: http://area.autodesk.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/16168/ Interesting to note that as of now, 9 out of 10 people running gaming cards are happy with their performance. 3 in 13 run pro type cards and apparently one is having buyer's remorse. I'd be good to get concrete feedback on setups though... So, please help me out and post your stats!
