Jeenyus203
Hi,I am creating a scene and would like to add some depth of field blue to it. The only problem is I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO IT. If soemone could point me towards some tutorials on how to do it or maybe briefly tell me themselves it would be a great help. Im using 3ds max
Jennifer
Hi, DOF in Mental Ray, or not? In standard max, you can change the parameters for the camera to use the multi-pass option. It creates multiple renderings that are overlaid on one another to create the final image. You can also go to Rendering -> Effects, and add the DOF effect. You need to select the camera and focal point. This is a better option than the multi-pass effect, IMHO. In mental ray, go to the render dialog and select the Renderer tab. In the Camera Effects pulldown enable the DOF. This feature allows you to set the f-stop value directly, and works pretty well. Have fun! pixelperfectg
I really like using the Z Depth render element for DOF as well. It's quick and you can control the amount of blur via photoshop. Jeff

rivoli
if you're using either the commercial version or rio, you might want to enable the dof in the camera rollout. of course you need a brazil camera instead of a standard one. if i'm not mistaken splutterfish does not provide any documentation along with rio about brazil cameras yet, but i think you can try to get some help in the splutterfish forum. if you have the commercial version there must be all the documentation you need on your personal account.
