Jeff Mottle
http://www.google.com/chrome I kind of like it. Very fast, light, and no frills.
Slinger
I have not tried it yet. I may give it a go. The new Firefox3 I really don't like.
Sawyer
I am using it now. I like the clean aspect and I like the address bar. It seems slower on page loads and faster on page scrolling. Maybe its just me.
STRAT
i really like FF3. Chrome lfeels like an Opera browser, with, in it's current state, probably a fair few bugs. interesting though to keep an eye on

AJLynn
Chrome's based on Webkit so it's the Safari backend with a new frontend and some pretty nice improvements like multithreading. I might use it if I could get Adblock for it.
Sawyer
I switched back to FF. I was getting a few bugs (couldn't close it) and CGA got a load error.
Chad Warner
I switched back to FF. I was getting a few bugs (couldn't close it) and CGA got a load error. I guess that means I won't be trying it out anytime soon....got to have my CGA!

Spacelord
My first thoughts after a couple or hours is its a great lightweight browser. It really has some nice features, like being able to close the tab that is causing the browser to crash with its own Task manager. So many times I've had problems playing youtube vids in firefox with lots of tabs open with flash things going on, I've had to restart firefox or its just crashed. The speed of switching tabs is really fast, it can handle loads of tabs and its a multi threaded browser Once they start making extensions, this baby will only Rock more !! Check out there vids. TheAllusionisst
That crossed my mind too. I also thought I'd rock the boat and do all future designs to only accomodate Chrome Yes and while the percentage of surfers using Chrome was only 3% or something it would be kind of hard to get good traffic! LOL I actually just had to pay $1,500.00 on my last project to get cross browser compatibility because it came to a point where I was beyond my personal expertise and I have run into it all the time with my other sites, so it is a sore point with me I guess. Late nights thinking you finally got your site just right and then firing up all the browsers only to see the layout hosed in one or two of them! AAAAaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh! But I am sure you have run into it! LOL
shaneis
Out of interest, did anyone read the EULA? http://gizmodo.com/5044871/google-chrome-eula-claims-ownership-of-everything-you-create-on-chrome-from-blog-posts-to-emails and then a later announcement, http://gizmodo.com/5045050/google-updating-chrome-eula-to-be-less-creepy
mattclinch
anyone noticed how RAM hungry it is? because its process based tabbed browsing it runs a new version of chrome.exe for every tab, and each of these processes in the task manager uses a good 20 meg of RAM minimum. you can eat up 200-300 meg of RAM with lots of tabs. good if one tab crashes you dont lose them all, but not good for those peeps with low RAM. don't like it, gone back to FF3. Macer
Yeah it might be a bit hungry on the ram front, but it frees more ram at each tab close than other browsers. Guess it depends on your surfing technique! My thoughts? - Well I'm just enjoying the change. No major problems yet......
lambros
got a few tab crashes with flash shockwave, but I really like its speed, atm I am split between chrome and ff3
Ricardo Eloy
Been using it since Tuesday. It seems very stable, fast and has some really cool stuff. I like the "start the browser with your favourite websites opened in tabs" option. I normally browse 4 websites every morning, now they are automatically loaded. Silly, but I like it. As said, still has some problems (doesn't work with Ajax pages, which might not be a real problem and some gallery pages don't show the way they should). But I'm enjoying it! BTW, there's already a benchmark test out there. Check it out.
Dave Buchhofer
Rick, you can have multiple homepages seperated by ;'s in firefox and it'll do the same startup thing. I've been using it for the google sites mostly, as it seems to be noticably MUCH faster with gmail/greader/gcal.. still using firefox for most general browsing though so far. I'll probably give the chrome a whirl for a while longer on the wifes EEE pc/webappliance Overall my impressions: Not too bad. the javascript speedups are wonderful. though they've by all reports sped up firefox's js for future releases by quite a bit also. being able to seperate a tab out to a new window is a small thing that i've wanted in firefox for ages. the dom inspectors are nice also. been getting into a bit more pulling information off of web pages, and having that sort of web-debug info built in is helpful Anyway, unlike you guys who actually develop webby stuff, i'm all for competition in the web space!! AJLynn
Not to be too much of a party-line type, but you guys do realize that a very large part of the reason why Chrome is fast is that Webkit is fast. Webkit is the package that Apple developed based on the Konqueror source as the framework for Safari. You take the Safari guts, add a new Javascript interpreter and make it multithread by firing up a new HTML renderer thread for each tab or window, and that plus a web comic is Chrome. It's not much of a technological feat, it really exists because Google wants some leverage to keep Microsoft honest in Internet Explorer's handling of other large companies' (e.g., Google's) web sites. Matt Sugden
well I tried it on Wednesday, and I got to say, what's all the fuss about? To me I see very little difference in functionality between all the major browsers. I use mozilla, but to be honest I doubt my browsing experience would be much different if I was using IE7 or Chrome, it's all about familiarity I think. When is someone actually going to do something new and exciting to the way we browse the internet? to me it seems just so antiquated the way we do it now with the emergence of multi-touch interfaces, tablet laptops and the like. I don't personally own one, but I can't see why an interface similar to the i-phone safari one (but on a larger scale) hasn't taken off yet. To me that will be the internet part 2. Minority report stylee.
Crazy Homeless Guy
I finally got around to testing Chrome today. I have it installed, and so far everything is good. It is fast, the overall design is fairly clean. Though visually I will wind up applying as skin to the window if I start to use it as the browser of my choice. I hate Google's logo, and the choice of their colors. In other words, the blue bar at the top needs to change colors. The thing I noticed is that the tabs function similarly to Ineternet Explorer. When you launch a new tab from a link, it positions itself next to the tab you are currently viewing. I like the way Firefox handles it instead. It puts the newly launched tab at the end of the tabs. I don't like the tab's rearranging because it makes me forget which tab contains what information. This is important because it isn't that uncommon for me to have 10 or more tabs open. I use them kind of like temporary bookmarks for information I am going to read as soon as I finish the page I am on. Now I need to figure out if I can use it as a portable version, and if there is a way to sync bookmarks between my work and home computers. I have come to rely on being able to do that. Anyway, is anyone using this as their primary browser? ... additional opinion now that it has been out for a couple of months? Edits: - Where is the home button? - Not sure I like the way the bookmarks are setup. I prefer a drop down menu for these. Spacelord
Hey Travis, Thats funny you mention chrome putting the tab at the end, this use to tick me off in Firefox so I installed tab mix plus so it would put the tab next to the tab it came from. I find I group my tabs so when they come from the same website there all next to each other. Then when I open up a completely separate tab and start opening tabs from that website there right next to each other. Now if it was the default way where it sends it to the end it gets messy real fast. But you know its personal preference. Chromes great, its fast, theres a couple of pages it doens't like to display properly. I will what until it gets extensions. I rely on using the wheelie mouse to scroll through tabs in firefox. I find it a pain when I which to chrome and its not scrolling I still use it on occassions and I love chromes task manager, separate exe's for each page is handy.
