adricorrea
Hi all Since I discovered the sweep modifier, I have become a fan of it, the only problem is, when you map a material to a sweep that is quiet curvy, I cannot make the map to follow the sweep Does anyone know how to make the UVW to follow the sweep shape, any shape:confused: Thanks
Ricardo Eloy
Not sure, but I believe Max 2009 could do what you want using the new spline mapping thing.
mattclinch
when you create the sweep, provided you check the 'generate mapping coordinates' checkbox in the sweep parameters rollout it will automatically assign mapping that follows the sweep path. you shouldn't need to add a UVW modifier. WAcky
Try applying your material without a UVW mapping modifier. Sweeps automatically create their own UVW coordinates. Super super handy. If you need to move the map you'll have do do it in the map settings via offsets and tiling and sizes and so on.
adricorrea
I have the "Gen. Mapping Coords" checked but the texture seems spread along the sweep and I need it to be tiled at an specific distance along the sweep. Let me explain what I am doing, I am creating kerbs, so I drew the line of the kerb and the I have drawn my own shape for the kerb, my material is just one tile of concrete, which suppose to be maped at 800 x 800mm. This works fine if the kerbs are in 90 degree angle, but the project that i am doing at the moment the kerbs are very curvy, which is when everything start going wrong. HELP! adricorrea
Rick I am not sure where can I find the spline mapping thing?
BrianKitts
enable generate mapping and then tell the sweep to use "real-world map size" when you insert your texture into the material applied to the sweep, switch it from tiling 1x1 to real world size and set the size of your exact sizing. Chad Warner
To clarify Brian's post, once you've checked the "use real world map size" in the sweep parameters, you have to the same thing in the material editor. That's where you specify the real world size of the map.
