Geometry and shape doubt in max 2009

When i create an spline in max 9 and apply to it a modifier like extrude, it becomes a geometry.

 

but in design 2009 when i apply the modifier it keeps shape status.

 

what's wrong ?

 

edith: in order to explain me a little better, it does become a 3d object with lengh, width and height values, but when i click select by name option, in the type column, the objects keeps saying SHAPE instead of GEOMETRY.

Well... after searching in google...

i found out that is a 2009 max thing.

and you can have your old select by name window by bring to your tools and add a short cut to select by name floater !
