Baked materials

Hey CGAA's,

A quick question for those of you that work with max5 and know a little about texture baking:

I'm exporting my baked materials, thats not a problem, but do I really need to apply them manually back onto the objects?? I did read the help file, but do not have the manuals (demo version af MAX5...)

If I have to do this manually, I'll script it...

cheers

try the various options under display materials

its set to default baked in viewport and your normal materials in render.

but if you look under the various options, theres...

standard material save all

standard complete

light map etc

im writing my own realtime engine, and after a bit of dicking around with the various options,

i found standard complete all to be the best options.

it doesnt however switch on self illumination,

so i usually export out to the engine with the ambient light set to its max.

this saves having to go into each material and reapply the baked material, which as you know is a pain in the butt.

heres a screeny of my realtime engine, with baked GI textures of 2048x2048 and a cube reflection map rendered from the cars perspective, running at 180fps on a 2,4ghz

it has 4x antialiasing, which in my opinion still isnt good enough, cant wait for the geforce fx, supposed to handle 8x aa :)
