HawkPoint3D
Does anyone know the fastest way to paint up 2D CAD elevations using Vendor color samples for the client to choose colors quickly? I thought about scanning the samples then color picking with Photoshop and using color filled shapes on the elevations. Does anyone know a better or faster way of getting accurate color? The client will more than likely change their mind several times so I need a fast workflow. Thanks!
neko
vector-based drawings can be easily opened in illustrator and coloured there, or maybe try using autodesk impression ? no need to scan and rasterize
M V
I import a PDF export from CAD to Photoshop and then use separate layers for each color. You can have several color schemes all in different layer sets you can turn on and off for a client. Just make sure to put your linework on a separate layer, place it above all the other layers and put it on Multiply.
Antisthenes
you can use a 'placement' of the pdf to photoshop to keep vectors there will always be trouble to go between pigment color(chip you scan) to light color(scanner to RGB) back to pigment RGB or CYMK, it will never be the same, that is why physical color chips are important to attach on a color board. also each paint company offers swatches. I do a nice job with a 2d/3d method in rhinoceros the same can be done in the autocads and intellicads, just not so easy. or you can use a pixel pusher... HawkPoint3D
I think I am going to scan the swatches and create styles to apply in Impression 2...Then when they change their mind on colors I can quickly make the switch. DWG to Impression is just awesome.
Antisthenes
like i said about scanning color chip samples it always gives imperfections in the process and if you can use the companies own digital web avail. swatches it may work better, more consistent, Impression is free right?
