Introducing myself Jeff

Hello everyone, I’m Jeff and I’m a freelance architectural illustrator! I had no idea when I started this career that it would be so difficult finding work. I consider myself to be very proficient at all aspects of 3D architectural illustration and a very reliable worker able to get projects finished well within set deadlines. I live in a part of the country where the words architecture and illustration are far too big for the majority of the peoples to comprehend, so most of the time I am quite lonely in my neighbourhood. I depend entirely on my networking on the World Wide Web and its community of AI’s to give me inspiration and the confidence to continue. I live in the North of England near a town called Blackpool. It’s a seaside holiday resort where alcoholics and young hooligans come to play, deposit litter and throw up on the streets. The town is kept like a prisoner in the cellar, run by capitalists who take its tourism wealth away and feed it scraps occasionally. I have recently been travelling the country looking for some really interesting projects to get involved with but it seems that many architects are now seeking to employ in-house illustrators so getting contracts is becoming increasingly difficult. I refuse to give up though, architectural illustration is my life. I recently set up a small website called Open Eye Visuals, selling but mostly giving away textures, it is aimed mainly at the ArchViz community. It will hopefully keep my head above water until the next job comes in, if anything it will keep me entertained, I’ve got some interesting plans for it. Oh and by the way I’m looking for artists that are willing to show off some of their work on my illustration page. Any way thanks for reading guys. Jeff

Well if you get bored in the mean time you have just described a nice project that may differ from the normal clean cut arch viz we usually get.

I am talking about your description of blackpool by the way, i know what it looks like but for our foreign counterparts why not model it the way you have described it to give them a clearer idea.

(or they could just do a google image search)

and it isn't all that bad :)

just the gypos that hang around the pleasure beach that make it a bit unwelcoming, oh and the hoards of chavs floating around in the early hours of the morning after the syndicate "superclub" shuts for the night
