alless
Hi , I guess Many of Us have this problem and i made this thread to know what is the 100% working Solution for this problem . When I render a Simple Displacement with any resolution in Vray ... It Starts to Presampling Displacements and then Light Caches ... But When Light cache starts Vray says :"359 Hours Remaining" and after 1 minute It will Crash ... My Aspects : Cpu intel Q6600 2.4ghz VGA Geforece 8800GT xfx 512mb 2 Gig of RAM (dual channel) 3ds max 9 & 2009
WAcky
I'm assuming that you're using displacement in your material for the object? Instead you should always use the VrayDisplacementMod. Although you might have a bit more trouble with getting your map in the right spot, it offers more control and you wont be waiting 14.96 days for it to finish. Give it a go. alless
@WAcky - Thanx a lot Dude , It worked ! But I Wanted to know :"How would be the Mapping of Displacement Modifier ? would it be the same as Diffuse of material or I should give it a UV map ?!" WAcky
Yes it is tricky. What you should do is make a material and apply it to the object. Now drag the displacement map (in the diffuse slot) over to the VrayDisplacementMod. Now make your displacement map in the diffuse slot of that material so you can see it in the viewport and adjust it accordingly. Once you have the placement all good you can go and put the material you want back onto your object while retaining the map in the VrayDisplacementMod. There may be an easier way but thats how I get around it. Let me know if you dont understand my explination. Good luck.
Eric Sosa
hum.. no matter of you make your displacement, the biggest problem is your pc specifications, it is just too small to handle regular size renders with displacement, I am afraid you can only make renders under 1000 pixels big with such machine. there are several ways to make bigger renders with your machine and using displacement...simply search at this very forum and you'll find the help threads. certainly big renders with lots of displacement are easilly made with machines on 64 bit and having a memory as big as 12 -20 gb ram....then your pc wouldn't crash at all.
