Hi all,

(1st of all i would like to say (cause its my first post here) this forum is really really great, found it a few weeks ago and i never really left :D )

as a engineering (no architecture) student and my interest in CG this for me is one of the best resource site ive found on the I-net. having that said lets get to the point;

The problem im having is when i shapemerge a shape on a mesh it creates lots of useless vertices. is there something im doing wrong or is this the same with 3dsmax its boolean feauture ?, just an unavoidable side-effect ?

This how i dit it -->> drawing rectangle (also tried placing it ON the mesh(with grid)on mesh >> selecting mesh >> Shapemerge with; move&merge

And this is what i got >>

Yes, these are side effects. Shape merge is probably a boolean opperation whereby a 2d shape is extruded through the viewport axis. The unwanted verticies you are seeing, are where existing edges in the original object intersect the merged shape.

If you edit mesh, with edge sub-object mode, you can probably see these edges, before and after to see what's going on.
