e_cbautista Posted September 13, 2008 Share Posted September 13, 2008 hi everyone! has anybody tried using standard matl with vray renderer? is there any significant improvement in speed? i need to do a short cam fly through of an interior, or should just i settle using scanline when deadline is tight? btw, im using 64 bit os, intel quad with 8gb ram and ati 3870x2. this forum is a lot of help and i thank you all! tayrona Posted September 14, 2008 Share Posted September 14, 2008 You can use standard mats with vray... obviously vray mats work better. some glossy effects that are time consuming with vray mats, could be replaced with standard mats if time saving is your priority, in animations for example I use standard mats with glossys in low detail geometry that is not in first plane in the visualization. If you want the fake glossy thing, just turn off the Trace Reflections option in the VRay Mat. Remember, VRay mats are more advanced and optimized than Standard.
