Guest gonny
ok i'm importing a scene modeled in autocad into 3dsmax. The problem is, even when i create a basic object as a box in autocad and send it to max when opened in max it has totally useless faces. Anyone knows how i can eleminate these, maybe i'm importing them wrongly?
mbr
I assume it is a dwg file? Try dxf or 3ds, that sometimes can help. There's another thread somewhere here about the problems with importing files and face normals. 2 sided materials works, too.
abicalho
A regular Box object (either 3D Surface or Solid) will generate 12 faces when imported in MAX. If you're seeing more than 12, then there's something wrong in your DWG file. Also, the best method to import geometry from AutoCAD is the DWG file. Much better than 3DS or DXF. quizzy
This is the deal: Never import with unify faces, it might go wrong then. The following picture shows a 3d solid on the left and a polygon mesh on the right. And this picture shows how to import the .dwg file
