Problems network rendering to image files

I have recently set up a small render farm to explore network rendering with MAX. I setup everything by the book (UNC paths etc.) and it all seems to work very nicely until the machines rendering the scene try to save to an image file. I have tried several differnt types but I am getting an error similar to this at every attempt: JPEG - Access is denied (0x5)

Anybody experieced this before? I have done a quick search through the archives but came up with nothing. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

hi nisus, thanks for your prompt reply.

i have just tried rebooting the render servers....they all seem to find the output directory and drive with no problems. i have even logged in as administrator on the machines i am using to render and rendered a sample image to save to the same directory....that works fine. weird.

anymore ideas....i'm stumped?

cheers,

I had a similar problem with my 2k servers when I slaved them to my xp pro master. After talking to my IT guy, he explained that since the servers are on 2k Pro, they don't intrenzically recognize other hd's. So whenever I boot them up, the first thing I have to do is open the "save to" folder/hd/etc. that I want to use through each server, and it asks me for the domain name and password. It's tedious, but the only real solution. I even tried reformating one of the servers to see if it could save the password info so I wouldn't have to deal with this mess, but 2k pro just doesn't offer this.

to summarize, even if see the folder on a different machine that you want to use, make sure you can access it by double clicking (opening) it. Chances are, the first time after rebooting, it'll ask you for a password, EVEN if you have admin access...I don't have passwords on my master at home, and I still have to use the generic "administrator" password that's built in to windows.

Hope this helps.
