big_perm
I'd like to know if there is a tool that would help package up a max file for me. I need to send the file to another office and don't want to have to hunt down all my bitmaps. Is there anything out there? or built into max? thanks,
RobNJ73
Options panel > "More" button > Resource Collector This will take your .MAX file, the referenced bitmaps, and any photometric files and pack them into one neat and clean .ZIP file. markf
Also, File>Archive collects all of your projects maps, etc. Not sure if resource collector is better or not. Archive works fine and preserves the directory structure's of your map, etc locations. In my experience, having this preserved can be a hassle when un-archiving a project, so maybe resource collector is better? I'll need to give Resource Collecter a try myself! WAcky
As i remember, resource collector will copy all your associated files to a directory and update max's paths to read these copied files. Which makes it pretty handy. I guess the archive is for archiving projects so it will preserve your file structure. SandmanNinja
I never knew about these options, but guessed something would have to be done to make your scenes transportable. So, if I work on a scene at my office, I can package it and work on it at my house? With the textures and everything else coming across with it, properly pathed? Sounds like resource collector is what I need to use! Thanks James ps: I had too much to drink the other weekend, I got online, saw your avatar, and had bad dreams! Scary! hehehhe funny, crazy, but true Edited September 17, 2008 by SandmanNinja scary avatar
