Dave Oliver
i mean for sketchup this is a preliminary rendering for a new building. the modeling was actually done in autocad. textures (glass) and rendered in sketchup. will post updates as the design progresses and if the project gets off the ground. Dave Oliver
render time is about 20 minutes i think (large res higher settings), i let it go in the background and jump back to autocad. this is my work computer its not that fast - core2 duo e8400 @ 3ghz each, 3 gb ram, some mediocre graphics card. winxp. scene setup on render seems to take a long time with sketchup, im not sure what vray is converting it to. with large models sometimes the scene setup fails, i havent figured that out entirely. material setup is a little more cumbersome. but you can still add everything somehow, it supposedly even does displacement also, i think i will put both these projects in this thread because they are both my learning material for vray+sketchup this one is a funky parking garage i cant believe they accepted the design Edited September 16, 2008 by dave5264 added another one
Jason Bergeron
i really want to try vray, but i guess i will have to wait until they get around to releasing vray for mustard.
bentegviz
i really want to try vray, but i guess i will have to wait until they get around to releasing vray for mustard. haha does the sketchup version of vray have the 'guess vertical shift' option? i use that all the time with max to keep my vertical lines from converging. that's a peev of one of my major clients. i really like the parking structure design. maybe because i would like to see some around that aren't just giant concrete ramps. Dave Oliver
this is pretty much what they give you as far as camera controls

maymouk
hi all can we save max vray settings in sketc up or we just create the settings on sketch up
Dave Oliver
the settings are not exactly the same, but they are pretty close. the vray plugin for sketcup is a little more basic because, sketchup is a little more basic. so, no. you have to set up vray inside of sketchup. its not hard though
