nnng2001
Hi, I'm using maxwell render 1.6 with the maya 8 64 bit plugin. I've enabled imaged based lighting and plugged in an hdri image. The render looks great but I would like the hide the environment dome that maxwell generates. Essentially I don't want to see the hdri image in the background. I can't seem to find the control in maya to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kurt
Hi, I don't use Maya, so I can't really help you. In Maxwell Studio this is very simple: Just Enable Hdri in the lighting and refelction slot and disable it in the background and refraction slot. Also disable Physical Sky/lightdome BTW: you should upgrade to Maxwell 1.7.1 - the newest build
nnng2001
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I can't use maxwell studio as I'm importing a realflow mesh sequence that's in bin format into maya. I know maxwell studio allows you to import .obj files but I don't have the time to re-export the mesh sequence (process took one week the first time). nnng2001
I figured it out. Thanks Kurt, you made me realize that I could specify the individual layers independently in the render globals for maxwell in maya. Essentially, all I had to do was uncheck everything the background layer and then use the same hdri image in the reflection/refraction and illumination layers (while also unchecking 'same as background' for those layers) thanks again
