stevel
It looks most here are into 3D trees and such, but I'm interested in learning about 2D entourage--most available is in jpeg with alpha maps, but some is available in png (which makes for a lot easier placement!). Is there any difference in final rendered image quality between the two, or does it depend strictly on the quality of the photograph and resolution size? Chad Warner
It's really just going to matter about the quality and resolution of the original photo, but PNG does have the advantage of being able to have a built in alpha channel, and it's a lossless compression, so you won't get artifacts like you might with a jpg.
