david.jones
Hi, I have recently upgraded to max 2009, i dont use the new view cube and walk tools etc because im used to just using shortcuts, t for top l for left p for perspective etc, but im finding all my viewports end up becoming perspective views when in the quad viewport mode. And i have a camera which keeps changing to an orthographic when working within it, ie moving a a chair or such. Is anyone else having this problem? Its pretty annoying. squeakybadger
make sure you have sp1 installed, it plays nicer it goes to perspective view first, then the view you want for some reason if you interrupt it when its doing that, more often than not you will get a persp view
adricorrea
I used to have the same problem, but I install the hot fixes and the SP1 and it is working fine now. You can find all of them in the Autodesk web site:)
david.jones
Cool, ok, thanks guys, i'll get the new pack, the list of fixes i had found didnt seem to include my problem. This is where working for a big organization is a nightmare, cant install these patches myself, and need to go through a 4 week process to get them installed including justifying why i need them!! IT support...yeah right.
Ingsoc75
This may help: Go into the stdplugs folder and rename the file AutoCamMax.gup to AutoCamMax.gup.bak and then restart max. I've not had any viewport issues since and I even have SP1 installed.
david.jones
Wow, thanks Brian. I've only been trying it for an hour, but so far it looks like your suggestion works a treat!
