matt1066
Hi Guys, I hope one of you can help me... For Some reason 3ds Max crashes when i use vray proxy in my scene. I have only been using about 3 or 4 proxys at a time. I nornmally use proxy's for trees and plants, etc. If I hide the proxys the renders comes out fine. Has anyone else had this problem? many thanks, matt
tayrona
try using dynamic memory and adjust the limit (system section of vray). renderig time could be slow but max will not crash. (we are not all "guys")
manta
Can't imagine what your proxy could be doing wrong unless you're using opacity maps or displacement on them...I have no problem rendering 5,000 proxies each one with over 200,000 polygons... matt1066
Hi Guys and Girls (Diana ) I upped my dynamic memory limit and that seem to of fixed my crashing problem. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, Matt
manta
I'm still wondering why you need to do that for just a few proxies...I've never had to touch the dynamic memory...could you tell us about the proxies...how many polys...and what size are you rendering to ? James S
Been experimenting with proxies lately more putting libraries together in this format. I found using non-vray materials really messed up certain proxies - try vray scene converter when creating proxies, or use Mental Ray's new proxies in max 2009. Or kill the opacity map filtering on the materials.
