De Bum
Ellow CG'ers! I am testing the V-Ray Demo 1.5 SP2 on 3Ds Max 2009 richt now, I really like it, exept one thing. I Cant see any Vray materials that I applied on my scene, in the viewport. The object I apply it on just changes to the diffuse color selected in the material editor. But I CAN see the texture in the material editor, and when I render it, it alsow shows op just fine. And strangely a standard material does shows up in the viewport and everywhere else (even whit V-ray assigned). Is This some kind of a demo restriction? Or maybe some kind of driver setting or whatever ? I can't figure it out, plz someone need some help! Thanx, Hans

knugel
Maybe...? The picture shows only that you click the "Show standard map in viewport" button (the little blue/white checkered box icon, right under your materials in the Material Editor). Hold the left mousebutton down to choose "Show hardware map in viewport", but that will work ONLY if the material is standard. If you have a vray material it will not work, well not for me anyway. I guess it has something to do with the graphic driver, not sure. Open up max help and read "show hardware map in viewport".

knugel
Ellow CG'ers! What kind of post is that??!! Stick to the topic or go somewhere else. Anyway, I found out the solution why the vray materials where black: The global lightning was set to zero! I opened up Meny-->Rendering-->Environment Under the Global lightning, set Tint: white and Level: 1.
