Newbie question

I've been messing around with Arch Viz stuff in my free time and I have a question to ask.

Is there a standard human scale to keep in mind/use when creating a room or any architectural scene?

Would I take a human adult who is 5'10" tall and is say 1' 6" wide at the shoulders and 8" from chest to back and use that as a human reference?

I hope this makes sense.

Regards

That information is helpful although it is not what I was trying to find out. :)

What is the standard size human for reference when creating a room/building layout plan? If I were looking at a plan (top view) and I wanted to put representation of a human (top view), would there be a standard size for the width (right shoulder to left shoulder) and the depth (back to chest)?

Perhaps I should just measure myself and use that as a reference but I was curious if there was a standard. :o

there is a standard, and it is all listed in detail in the books i mentioned. including everything from light switch heights, to wheelchair access dimensions and turning circles. very useful.

Would these be standards for US (non-metric)?

Actually that probably wouldn't matter as I could just convert to imperial.

Gosh how I love the fact that my country refuses to make a switch over to metric.
