un-Normals and Vray?!?

Hi again

I have this problem with my windows in Max... I have imported a scene: filepush.asp?file=test_10.jpg

From ADT 2004 - the normals are (as they always seem to be in my case) not as they should... It isn´t a problem except for the glass - it gets these green parts.

I´ve flipped some of the nomals manually (the tower)but my deadline will not allow me to do it in he whole model - I have tried the normals modifier but that doesn´t do it either...

I´m using Vray advanced with Vray glass - the problem goes away if I use two sided standard materials but then I have to raytrace and then I cant use Vrayshadows.

Help - I don´t want really green glass! What should I do ?

I´m not really looking for critique of the rendering, but if you have ideas for things to do I´m all ears. I´m planning to merge the final renderings into som photographs... like this one: filepush.asp?file=30009.jpg

Tips on how to do this are very welcome...

Hi Tom

Oh - yes of course... its just... I´ve already progressed to far to be able to go back.

I understand that this is a mistake but I cant do that now... The renderings and the rest of the presentation (line drawings illustrations) has to be ready for thursday noon.

Its a good example of bad planning.

Any other ideas?

I´ve discovered that by doing a standard material 15% opacity and som glossines I get no artifacts - but then I have to compromise with the glasslikeness of the glass(!?)

Ras,

Would it be to late to just isolate and remove the offending objects and just import what you need from ADT? not that I know what the extent is, but maybe just remove the glass and re-import it with "unify..." unchecked as a test.

Hi Tom

What an excellent idea! That´ll work - Thank you - I´ll do that!

The thought of doing something like that might have crossed the outer bounderies of my mind but I just haven´t done it before because... Well I guess its for the same reasons that people play roulette and hope that if they stick with it just a little longer...

My wife is a psykologist and I think she would caracterize such behaviour as "selfdestructive"...

Thanks Tom.
