DiegoFlores
Hello everyone! I have this problem that suddenly started to happen. Im trying to render opaque glass for an exterior facade with a vrayMtl. The reflect parameter is set to gray, but the refract is set to black to suppousedly make it like a mirror. Im not using any opacity maps either. But everytime i render, it makes just this material a little transparent and it seems to be fixed if i disable reflections turning it to black. It makes no sense and i have also noticed that its not a true material transparency(if i put something behind it would also make it transparent all the way to the background image). I am wondering if there is a setting that might be doing this, i have allready tried starting over with the scene and materials. martincg
i think it is not transparency, but reflections - change background when you render / render it with alpha - *.tga, *.png/ and then add background in PS if you add background just like pics with screen mapping what is in background same pics is in foreground - spherical maps with spherical mapping are rendering ok on reflected materials Edited September 28, 2008 by martincg
DiegoFlores
you mean this supoused transparency is the refection of the forefront? i tried renderng without an enviromental map but te color of the background still affects the image like it was transparent, or maybe is still refllecting it like you said. I didnt seem to have this problem before. by spherical maps, you mean HDRI maps? i dont have one of those. I was actually planning to take pictures of the trees in front of the glass to use them as difusse textures, layered on top of the glass color. i will try adding the background in Photoshop but still this reflection thing is not very clear to me. DiegoFlores
ohh yeah you are right! i tried puting a box in front of the glass and the reflection of this box makes it truly opaque. thanks martin!
martincg
by spherical maps, you mean HDRI maps? could be HDRI, could be only *.jpg , primary reason is spherical mapping - for right reflections and refractions http://www.sharecg.com/v/3852/texture/spherical-sky-map! Craig Ramsay
I seem to remember this happens if you have your background mapping coordinates set to screen in the material editor. Try changing the mapping coordinates to something else or a better idea would be to just comp your background in after the render is done.
