Tommy L
I have been asked to do some Vray training. The customer uses Rhino though, I just use Max. Is Vray just the same in Rhino? Will I look like a clueless buffoon?
Antisthenes
Vray is the same program for many platforms. Looks like you will have to hone your Rhinoceros skill set. You may learn allot in the process about this tool that can do both your contract documents as well as final rendering and animation. Have you seen the SIGGRAPH usergroup videos? There you can see Vray runs outside of what program you use for vray: max maya cinema4d rhinoceros. PD player mmmm
Tommy L
Jonas, I have never used Rhino, I dont even know what the program looks like when its open... What I need to know is, can I show up with a laptop with Max/Vray on it and teach a lesson to these guys who are using Rhino? I mean, does rhino create vray lights and ue vray sun and have all the same render settings and stuff? Does it have Vray Fur and vray plane and all the other little tools? I guess I should ask the question the other way around, How does Rhino Vray differ from Max Vray?
Jorbu
Hi Tom, Vray for Rhino is almost identical to Vray for Max. It uses the same types of vray lights, materials, sun/sky system, physical cameras, settings, etc.... There are a few things that aren't incorporated into VfR yet like vray proxies I believe and certain types of materials. You can download the Rhino trial and the VfR trial as well to check it out. I think to teach Vray only it'll be the same if you just use Max, but not sure if they're expecting to also learn how to apply materials, set up lights, etc.. For that you'll have to be a little familiar with the Rhino interface, but it's not very hard to do. I would recommend you look through the free PDF manual for VfR from ASGVIS website. It's a step by step manual, very thorough. Let me know if you have any questions. Jorge B.
