Hi all,

I`m working on a pesonal project in my spare time. I do it for experience and for fun. The flat was designed and built few years ago by Papshev Evgeniy. You can find some drawings and photos here. The goal of wip is to create maximum realistic\beauty images using Softimage XSI. I don`t want to match photos but i use this photos as reference for material and lighting.

Plan drawing (work with blue area)

I`ve modeled base geometry: walls, floor, ceiling, receised downlights.

I`ve setuped base daylight for test rendering.

Spots test.

I tired IES light but it does not work good in xsi so i use spot for a while

Have no much time for this project. It`s my third attempt to xsi interior rendering. Will update you in a day or so.

LOL! I was breezing through your images and took a closer look at the reference images and was seriously impressed! Then I realized that I was admiring the reference images. :D LOL! The thing that really stood out to me was the intense reflections on the floor, if you can replicate this well, with all of the nuances and subtle variations, this is what sold me on the quality. Also, I notice that most modeled couches don't have nearly the detail in the seams as those real couches you had up. Things to consider when going for extreme photorealism. Cool reference and nice start. Let us know how it goes!

Aloha,

Joel

Joel, will try to produce all nuances. This is my personal project so i realy have no time for it. There was a problem in XSI with rendering. Now it fixed with new version. I`m shure WIP will go faster. Don`t worry about couch and seams. Usualy i make very detailed model :)

This image are small offtopic. Model was done for another project. Will delet it later.

Those are some nice details in the couch. In my opinion, there might be a bit too much wrinkles in the pillows and perhaps the wrinkles could be reduced in intensity by about a fourth on the seat cushions, but of course, it may look different when the lighting and shaders are applied. For speed, an Oren-Nayer shader might work for the mats, but if you really wanted to match the nuances of the couch and had some time to mess with it, I think Vray Fur might be the best bet for the couch material. (All my opinion of course... :) ) Kind of makes me want to do this sort of thing, but I sleep little enough as it is. ;)

Nice start, looking forward to further updates!

Aloha,

Joel
