TracerZA
Hey Guys, This is my first post on this site. What a wonderful resource this is for valuable information, however, I have trawled thru the exisiting threads but have not been able to find what I'm looking for. I currently use a package called Caddie to do my 2d CAD work and 3d modelling. I only model houses. Unfortunately the Caddie 3d engine does not use solids when modelling and this is causing major headaches for me when importing the .dwg into Max. The faces on my polygons are heavily triangulated and this causes problems when applying materials, and the normals each seem to have a mind of their own . I can fix it, but it is extremely time consuming, and often will only pick up issues that I missed after rendering for 10 hours!!! What I would like to do is learn how to model in Max itself (I use Max 8). If anyone knows of any good tutorials to import my 2d plan, and use it to model the building in Max I would truly be most grateful. Thanks in advance for your time and help. Kind regards. Alan. Spooner04
A forum user named Brian Smith has two books on architectural visualization that you can get from the store. You can also check out the tips and tricks on visualization insider, I think there is a banner for it on the bottom right of the home page. There are also some good videos at thegnomonworkshop.com, there is online training through this site, 3dtotal.com ......google works.
