You sound fairly new to 3d, and rendering in general. If you want to become skilled at the craft, then I wouldn't worry about finding realistic looking materials right off the bat. Work with simple shades of materials for now. Worry more about the quality of your composition, the elements of your lighting, and your modeling skills. All of those will do more for your renderings than throwing textures on it before you know how to properly use them.

I still don't know what ten x's have to do with it?

Sorry, guess I'm slow.

You don't say what 3D program you're using.

If it's 3DS Max and it's a fairly recent version AND you're using Mental Ray, then there are a BUNCH of very nice textures that are included for free.

You can also do an Image Google and find a lot of textures ready to go.

If you're new to 3D, I think you should take Baby Steps before you leap into importing Cad files into your 3D app. Once again, if it's 3ds AND AutoCAD you're planning on using, there's quite a few things you should sort out - workflow wise - before you even get to the texture stage.

General Order

-------------

Clean up Cad file in AutoCad

re-center to 0,0,0 to make it import easier

import it

fix any import errors

make walls, floor, ceiling

make windows and doors and door transomes

make roof

get some basic lighting in there

THEN

textures
