schmoron13
I'm trying to do a very very very simple task but max 5.1 is being difficult today!! I have a box, and a line of text (converted to e-poly so as to extrude), and I want to boolean (subtract) the text from the box. I made the text deeper than the box and I've tried changing the segs in the box, but the box remains intact....any suggestions?
Diego Rosales
Extrude the text without converting! Diego

Ken Walton
Another option would be to create a rectangle around the text roughly the size of your "box", convert to editable spline, then attach the text to the spline. You can then extrude as much or as little as you like.
smoke3dstudio
The thing is that when you extrude polygon in editable poly/mesh. The base ofthe extruded polygon will be hollow and then it can not boolean. You need to fill/cap the base first. Make sure there is no hole or border in any object before boolean.
