opium43
This is a very preliminary light test just wondering what people would do to get some light into the corridor on the left... it seems really dark. Also, does anyone know of an unfinished slate tile texture? Vray. Also, criticism. Edit: Near Final Images below... :-) Edited October 19, 2008 by opium43
gsscott50@hotmail.com
hey man, thats looking good. i like the perspective. are you using the gamma 2.2 workflow? if not, that helps to really brighten everything up with minimum effort. Is it a tileable slate roof texture your after? if so let me know and i can email you something over...
WAcky
try using a vray plane light set as a skylight portal that covers the outside of the windows to push some more light thru... looks good!
manish_mv
try light cache as secondary engine in the rendering if not and one more thing you can do is to increase dark multiplier in colour mapping options in vray setting The image is nice! thanks
shaneis
More light in corridor - increase the amount of diffuse bounces for Final gathering or get some photons into the corridor. Better yet, if there's a light fitting in the corridor, turn the light on. That's a great sky, I really like the Sun's halo. A side note, I'd try this same shot in portrait rather than landscape. That way you could take advantage of and better communicate the height of the windows and also be able to change your camera a little to avoid the chair rail (horizontal bit in your window frame) severing the top of the building. As it is, the composition is obstructive - almost feels like it's a POV of an agoraphobic hiding behind their desk. Maybe get in closer and use the walls and window frame to frame the structure. opium43
Sweet, thanks - I'll wack a sky portal and maybe some lights on the edges of the stairs which run down that corridor (what would you recommend doing for that? vray dome light?) I want a slate mat for the flooring, similar to below. It will be in the office and outside, and in the gallery which is down in the structure accross the court... I like the idea of a portrait comp, will do it tonight. RE. the gamma 2.2 workflow, is that where you increase use linear color mapping at gamma 2.2, and reduce the gamma of your mats to .255? I saw a good tutorial on that, but it was for older vray and the sun sky system is different now, I think... advice? Light cache is done, the dark multiplier was at 1.7... maybe bump it higher? On that actually, I'm using exponential mapping, should I be using Reinhard? I've spent the last 3 days making the physical model and drawings, which has been lame, I'll be doing more max this evening, and will post the finished work... due monday! Looking at this image as well, how would you light the display cabinets, and get rid of the blotches in that concrete?...
gsscott50@hotmail.com
RE Gamma 2.2 workflow........ have a look at this http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray/essential_gamma_01.htm
Spooner04
It looks pretty good. I think once you get some more light in there it will do the trick. Edited October 18, 2008 by Spooner04
Stan Zaslavsky
your images look fantastic - i especially like the composition of the last one - inside-gal. for the blotches - i think it's got to do with your GI settings - in mr as rendering engine - it takes increasing the number of photons shot in and the max radius cheers
opium43
This is a uni assignment, it's a vanilla site, and the breif is literally just 'gallery'. It's due tomorrow and I'm pretty over the design, but I'm happy enough with the renders as they sit currently, obviously there are a few things I would fix if I had endless amounts of time... :-) (so if anyone's got something ultra profound to say do it soon) This is the project I've worked in 3D with, and obviously the drawings are A1 compared to the A4 prints we're permitted for renders... Lecturers will usually look exclusively at the physical model as well. Which kinda makes all this work I've done futile... :-0 Having said that I'm glad I did spend the time, and I've learned a heap doing it, mainly thanks to this site... :-) I can't wait to learn more!
