can't save bitmap!!??

hey everyone,

if I render lets say 1000 x 1000 pixels, I can save the bitmap, but if I go to 3000 x 2000, for example, I can NOT save anylonger? it comes an error saying that the "bitmap" can not be created!

using vray framebuffer to render with 'cos there is displacement in it besides using Distributed Rendering too.

any tips please?

regards

wtf?....if I turn off the vray framebuffer it can be created again!!

humm... we render normally to 2900 x 1800 (with no displacement) using vray framebuffer and haven't had any problem with "creating" the bitmap (saving the render).

as this time, I'm rendering an outdoor and not a interior (shop design) I am using the frame buffer to help with the dissplaced grass.

vray frame buffer has it's great advantages....and also it's disadvantages. :(

anyone to clear this up?

Hello there,

i don't know if this will help but i got the same problem a few times, usually when i tell vray to save otomatically as Oexr.i don't know y but it seems if u close Vfb and reopen and choose Show last frame u can save.it worked for me i hope this will help.

cheers.

Only check the save bitmap in the first rollout (general i think) and leave both max FB and VFB off. Your problem sounds like a memory issue.

humm..if it was a memory issue, it would have crashed when rendering directly from max (not using VFB)..dunno.

saludos paisano :)

I did try the that, re-openning the last frame in VFB and try to save it but it did not work.

as it is a render with displacement, I suppose the problem ought to be related to memory. I'm using a quad with 4gb ram although only with 32 bit, the other 5 pc's helping with DR as the same specifications and finally the 3000 x 1572 pixels render takes about 1.00 hr with DR.

yep Kishore may be rigth and the best option is using vrayimg. until know, renderning directly from max has worked well enough .

weird...

we run into this problem fairly often at work. I have pretty much given up on using the VRay frame buffer and just stick with the max buffer. It is a memory issue overall. when you render using the VFB it defaults to having two frame buffers (one max and one vray) there is an option to turn the max one off. but right off hand I don not know the answer. When we render out large images we usually just use the save file feature in the common settings rollout. This allows the image to be saved even when using the VFB. I hope this helps.

I have also gave up Vray frame buffer...the only good thing about it is the view options and the chance to make render copies easier. I would say "use it ONLY when making small render test", forget about it for big renders .
