Image Masks ( have i gone stupid )

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

A very simple question about masks, but i can't get my head around it.

I have a series of images taken at different points, to show how a pair of Wind Turbines will look when erected. On some of the images the turbines will be behind low walls - so the bottom of the turbines can't be seen etc.

I've rendered out the Turbines in Max as TGA files and split the alpha channel.

I can't get these turbines to sit behind the walls etc....

What technique do i use. Any pointers etc

Cheers

By what you've written I presume you need to split your background images in photoshop. In simplistic terms you need a background image (the original) and a foreground image (everything in front of the turbines like the walls) that has a layer mask painted onto it that removes whatever is above (behind) the wall where your turbine will be. Layer wise it will go background, turbine render, foreground with mask. Of course you'll need your alpha from the render too activated to mask out the white or black around the turbine render.
