chow choppe
need guidance. i am trying to calculate LC for my 15 seconds animation at 2000 subdivisons When i start calculating it the estimated time shows as 30 minutes but after its 25 percent done it stops there and the estimated time value starts increasing and is going upto 36 hrs. whats wrong with this? i am stuck. cant figure out the reason. Please answer if this is not a noobish query. Thanks
Dave Oliver
its running out of memory. usually this does not happen with me until i get up to higher subdivisions, but there could be something else with your scene affecting it. if you delete everything out of your scene as a test and render some planes and boxes it would be an easy way to tell if the problem is scene complexity/too high quality settings
chow choppe
it was an interior scene with help of some good suggestions by CGA user "Lecamaleon" when i changed mode to screen it calculated it fine Thanks
kippu
for an animation mode , screen mode is not the way to go , screen mode will only calculate not uniformly , world will do it for the whole scene area uniformly , which is why it takes time . http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/examples_lightcache.htm
chow choppe
but then i think its the memory issue. because when i put plain grey material to the scene the LC calculates fine. So that means settings of lights were not the problem. There could be some problem with the materials. My system actually gave virtual memory error while calculating LC on another machine.
