Dave Buckley
guys, making an attempt at creating a realistic a&d snow material. i want it to look like the snow in marek denko's fiat scene, however i feel it is lacking something c&C welcome
Camby1298
Close. A screen capture of the setup would help. missing an element of SSS and a strong specular effect found within snow.
Spacelord
put a noise material in the reflection, set it so it has tiny white specks and use a good hdri or a sun.
Dave Buckley
well you see now that is where i am confused. basically it is, the material so far has noise (all set at 0.010 maps in the bump, displacement and reflection slots and also a falloff map in the diffuse slot. i shall have a play with it and try and get it as close as possible
studio2s
well, the specular and reflection need to be made more subtle. Currently, it looks like your snow is a melted marshmallow rather than a fluffy mound of snow. the light should also diffuse through the snow as snow is just tiny crystals. Your snow looks solid.
