Tommy L
I set up a ten machine network about a year ago and aside from a couple of squeaks, it was pretty easy. I've re-installed windows on my workstation after a hard drive failure. Im now trying to re-set up the network and hving some problems.... All the machines can only see the 'shared folder' on other machines. no drives. I cant map a network drive on my own machine. Seems like Im missing something. Im guessing its a permissions thing. Any help? I hate networking. Tom. [EDIT] I cant even specify a save location in max on my local machine using UNC over the network. Also, if i right click on a folder on my machine and go to shares and security, I can change it to 'allow sharing' which makes it visible on the network. Where do I change this for a DRIVE and make everything in the drive sharable and editable. I hate networking. Lester_Masterson
When you click on "My Network Paces", on the side bar you should see "Add a network Place" Follow the instructions, Select "Choose another network location", select "browse", Seclect "Entire Network". All of the machines that have shares should be visible. If not....I'm stumped. However, I have not "mapped" a drive since Windows 3.11. Max has no problem with the "Network Place" method....except for local folders, which Windows removes the UNC to be a local drive (grrrrrrr) Hope this helps
Tommy L
Thanks Lester, thats a much better solution than what I was trying to acheive. Still a couple of glitches, but seems to have solved some of the DR issues I had on the previous setup. Thanks, Tom.
